UAF, Flexible Options and Limitless Application

The UAF can include Quadstone Paramics comprehensive software development kit or API; Paramics Programmer as a paid for option. Programmer is the most powerful research and customisation tool available for users interested in microscopic traffic simulation. Programmer allows users to augment the Paramics simulation engine with new functions, driver behaviors and practical features. At the same time researchers can opt to override or replace sections of the Paramics simulation with their own behavioral models.

The Programmer SDK can be used to connect the UAF to external UTC or traffic signal control systems including SCOOT, SCATS, PCMOVA, VSPLUS, NEMA etc. Users can query and set various attributes of blocking regions in the free space model to test when agents have “pressed the button” or query when the last open state for the blocking region occurred. In addition, users can open and close blocking regions, the equivalent of switching the walk/don’t walk sign at the pedestrian crossing, based on messages sent from the UTC system.
